It's been awhile since I have offered a portrait set with this much appeal and natural beauty. This strawberry blond is gorgeous and quite self-assured in her pose. She confidently wears a bluish green, sleeveless dress, adorned with blue flowers at the plunging neckline. Her curly hair is pulled back and fixed with coordinating blue florals and she adorns her neck with a wide pearl choker, while a single sparkly earring peaks out from her hair. This set is very attractive in person, perhaps a little nicer than the photos, although they express this set well. The porcelain discs are in lovely antique condition, no cracks, hairlines or damages. The artwork is transfer decorated and bordered with a generous gold gilt band. There is some small wear to the artwork, primarily at or near the gold band on the hand mirror, but nothing too naughty and very acceptable for their age. My photos show the colors and all aspects of this set reasonably well.
The hair brush is the perfect match to the hand mirror and shows well in this photo, please excuse all the light reflections. The natural bristles are set into a wood base and the brush looks to be in much better condition than what is normally found, nonetheless, these antique hair brushes are advertised for decorative use only, as I cannot guarantee that they will hold up to daily use. The old beveled mirror, on the other hand, is quite usable and shows a good clear image along with some outer edge wear and a tad bit of wee tiny speckling to the silver backing. This mirror has too much life remaining for me to replace it and it's always nice to have the older pieces that will still service. I have cleaned and polished this set to the best of my ability, it is just as I would want it to be. There may be some slight tarnish remaining but the set is gorgeous to look at and striking in appearance. The rims are secure with one dent showing on the top of the hand mirror.   This set is structurally sound, with an overall dynamic look and the pale brassy toned handles have raised embossed Victorian styled roses. The backside of the porcelain is stamped with the Rosenthal factory mark used during the approx. early 1900 era. This fabulous German portrait set measures the standard size, the hand mirror is 9½ inches in length, the mirror offers a 5 inch viewing surface and the hair brush is proportionately a little smaller. If this antique porcelain backed portrait mirror and brush set has caught your eye, don't hesitate too long, it will find a soft spot in your heart and a special place on your vanity.
