Vintage Beaded Box Purse, Celluloid Top

Fabulous 1940's hard sided beaded purse & handle.
glass beads, sparkly iridescent navy blue, all intact,
top feels like celluloid, possible Lucite or Bakelite,
mirrored interior cover is good, pocketed lining,

Vintage 1940's Beaded Box Purse, Bronze

Gorgeous sparkling bronzy brown hat box purse,
beautiful sturdy and robust twisted beaded handle,
detachable cover with perfect beveled mirror,
brown satin lining is clean, looking hardly used,
wonderful example in excellent, splendid condition.

This is a classic 1940's oval glass beaded box purse in rich black.   The detachable cover comes mirrored as shown with some darkened areas to the silvering but you won't have any trouble using it for make-up application, it will continue to show a good image for many years.  The beading is in solid good condition, there is probably a row of beads missing at the very edge of the cover on one side but it is not very noticeable at all.  The interior black satin lining with pocket is clean, the fully beaded handle is secure and overall it appears only gently used.  Measuring 4 1/2 inches in height by 8 inches across the cover by 3 3/4 in depth, this beaded box purse will find many occasions to be carried.

The color on this round beaded box purse is fantastic but very hard to photograph.  The cut and faceted glass beads cover the entire purse and shimmer iridescent pinkish/orange highlights, sparkling at every angle.  The interior of the cover has a perfect mirror with a small beveled edge, the inside of the purse is well complimented with a satin lining and the purse is in wonderful condition with only minimal bead loss along the very bottom edge of the cover as shown in photo #4, hardly noticeable, I had to tip my camera upward to see it, certainly not detracting or diminishing.  No further losses are detected, the purse measures 5 1/4 inches tall by 5 1/4 across the cover and is a splendid example of a 1940's box purse, I know you'll find the color to be unusual and enjoy the full gathered ruffled body.
