The petit point embroidery consists of approx. 32 stitches per inch or 1000 stitches to the square inch, how delightful. The terrace scene portrays a grouping of 2 ladies and an approaching gentleman engaging in a friendly hand shake. There is a good sized column with an urn of flowers to the left, trees and greenery to the right and plenty of depth to the background nature and sky. As you can see, the petit point wraps itself entirely around the top of the compact, has an outer edge border of tiny roses and is securely in place as it should be. The colors are diverse and quite pleasing to the eye. This is an outstanding little petit point compact, in perfect, unused, well preserved and clean condition. 
The interior is spotless as well, unused, truly not showing any real aging to the beveled mirror. The original powder screen and make-up puff are pristine and ready for your next fancy occasion or special event. A part of me always likes to see these unused petit point compacts go into private collections and preserved but this one is completely usable, you can be the first to load your favorite powder in it. I'm showing you lots of photos so you can appreciate how well it has been kept and how deserving it is to be in your treasury of finer pieces. The backside is covered with a jet black fabric, the silver tone frame is straight and right, the clasp works as it should. Measuring 2¾ inches in diameter, this very special hand made petit point compact will add charm and eloquence to your accessories.
