This delicate and refined French porcelain presents itself in the form of demitasse cup and saucer sets, made in France during the approx. 1920 era.

French Limoges demitasse cup and saucer sets

These rich floral designs are patterned on a two toned background, the outer area of the saucers are a cream and the middle of the saucer is more of an bright ivory.

Limoges demi cups and saucers sets

It was impossible to get the background colors to photograph, so please keep in mind that the saucers and exterior sides of the cups are tinted with creams and ivories, while the interior of the cups seem more of an off white. There are eight magnificent place settings in splendid color but only 6 are perfect and you are only buying 6 sets, I am including the other 2 sets, that is how I bought them. I purchased these sets many years ago and they recently came out of a box when I relocated. My notes said 2 sets had small flaws but I can only find one flaw on one cup, so there must be another piece somewhere that has a tiny something that I can't seem to find, I've looked twice but I'll look again, it can't be too significant. The porcelain is nice and thin, just like fabulous antique French porcelain is expected to be.

My photos are just ok, you can expect these sets to look much more vibrant and elegant than they appear here. The porcelain is also patterned and has a graceful swirl to the mold, as well as, scalloped edges on the saucers. The coloring is extremely attractive, all it would take are some nice cream or ivory colored plates, gilded in gold of course, and you could put together some beautiful dessert trios. Demi sized cups are very popular for serving Cappuccino, Hot Toddy or a warm brandy with dessert. The gold gilt handles, rims and borders are in wonderful condition, with little, if anything, to complain about.

One of the cups has, what appears as a chip, as shown. It measures a total of inch in length and is the width of the gold band. It also appears to have been gilded in gold as well. This is barely noticeable without a magnifier and under magnification, it does not really appear to be re-painted, but it is still there. My notes about these sets is that there are 2 flaws but the other has eluded me thus far. This set is extremely well marked with 2 factory back stamps, enabling me to estimate it's age at approx. 1920. The measurements are: saucers are 4⅞ inches in diameter and raise off the table by inch; cups are 2 inches tall and taper down to 1 inches, 2 inches in diameter and 3 inches wide with the handle. They have a whimsical floral pattern with colors that are similar to the Dresden flower pattern. These beautiful Limoges demi sets will enhance any table setting or make for a fine gift. Remember, you are purchasing 6 perfect sets and receiving 2 bonus sets with small flaws....... ENJOY, they're very stylishness.
