The shape of this 8½ inch diameter plate is marvelous and the sides rise above the table by 1 inch. The artwork is truly divine. The roses are simply amazing and they are some of the best hand painted roses I have seen. The leaves are a transfer decorated but superbly done, it took a magnifier for me to detect this. The gold gilt applications are spectacular and help to place this plate in the category of elegant dinnerware. This plate carries 2 of the Jean Pouyat studio marks, one is patent dated 1906, and a 3rd early 1900's import mark with the W, which stands for Wanamaker, a company that had stores in Philadelphia, Paris and New York, as is indicated on the mark itself. Please enjoy reviewing these photos. The roses just pop off of the snowy white background and overall, I find not one complaint about this plate, no damages or wear. And those hand applied gold gilded designs are the best, as well as the elaborately sculpted border. My photos show the plate fairly nicely but you can expect it to be very dynamic in person. I especially like that it is somewhat bowl shaped, imagine serving this with a generous scoop of ice cream, drizzled with your favorite syrup. I know you will love this plate, let me know and I'll place it aside for you.
