The mother of pearl shell on this purse is especially pleasing with the many color tones and the Art Deco diamond shaped center design. The condition of the pearl is perfect, undamaged. Around the Deco design is an unusual iridescent glittery application that is further overlaid with a heavy gold gilt stenciling. In the center of the diamond shapes are shiny gold tone metal decorations. The entire presentation is quiet spectacular and has the look of high fashion. I find no markings on this carryall but the Evans Company was well known as a lead maker of these purses and they captured the market concerning unique designs. The interior is fully loaded with all the original components, attached lipstick tube, change purse has a slot for it's comb and the clean powder well holds it's unused make-up puff. The powder well lifts up to reveal the secret compartment for hiding that $50.00 bill. The mirror pulls forward to reveal the cigarette or accessory compartment, a very useful space for your credit card, license, or hanky. The mirror has a good clear mirror but does have a couple flecks of age wear, however, nothing offensive, it is still very nice, almost perfect. Structurally, this compact purse is just fine, so if you can accept that it has a bit of minor storage scratching to the exterior metal and tiny bump on the backside, you will have a wonderful vintage accessory that sports a clean, complete and unused interior. This carryall measures 5¼in width by 3 inches in height and has a depth of ⅝ of an inch. The snake style chain handle seems somewhat shorter than others I have seen but it is the original and drop the purse by 3¼ inches. This wonderful 1940's era mother-of-pearl compact carry-all will add excitement to your next evening out, let me know and I'll put it aside for you.
