This dough bowl carries the Munising 1930's impressed mark on the exterior bottom of the bowl, as shown. I've handled a lot of bowls through the years but this one is exceptionally heavy for it's size, must be solid rock maple. The color is very warm and inviting, a rich auburn with deep brown tones. There are some very dark spots showing in my photos but they aren't like that on the bowl, they just wanted to photograph that way. Overall, this bowl is splendid, with a fair amount of chop marks from cutting those herbs and other dry food. I am sure there had to be some dough making in this bowl as well. The graining on this bowl is superb, very interesting and alluring and I do believe there may be some Tiger graining on this bowl. This bowl is reasonably symmetrical, measuring large at 16 by 15 inches in diameter, dried out of round as it should have. It sits firm and steady at approx. 5 inches in height and I think perhaps the wood is just too hard to have warped much. The bowl has a smooth hand and feels wonderful, having all the character and magnetism of a well used bowl. You won't find any damages, cracks or abuse, this bowl has withstood the test of time and will continue to serve for another 80 years and much longer. It's a fabulous dough chopping bowl and if you love expressive bowls, you will adore this one, my photos truly don't do it justice.
