I acquired this bowl at auction and I think perhaps the original owner was too much in love with the bowl to use it, the condition is as good as they come. The Tiger maple graining is rich and intense, my photos are good but the bowl is more spectacular in person. I do not collect anything but I am tempted to keep this one, so I will just love it for as long as I have it. I believe my photos show you very well of the wonderful and unique qualities of this bowl, it is simply sensational. This is a turned bowl, on a lathe, you can see the very tight turning lines on the interior, the exterior is smoother. The bottom is signed by it's maker, as shown. The Munising Woodenware Company, of Michigan was established in 1911 and ceased operations in 1955. The mark on this bowl is their 3rd mark and was used around 1930, helping to date this bowl. As you can see the Tiger graining is very deep, quite stunning actually, even nicer than my photos would show. There seems to be a little residue on the exterior bottom, most likely from sitting around for decades. I have done nothing to this bowl but admire it's beauty. It's perfect just the way it is, natural and full of character and integrity. This charming bowl measures 11¼ by 10⅝, nicely out of round, as it should be. I don't see any flaw with this bowl, I don't know why I am selling it, I am in love with it. Best to grab it while you can, Tiger bowls are very hard to get.
